How this works

This uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your BMR (the calories your body burns at rest), then multiplies it by an activity factor to estimate your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) -- roughly how many calories you burn in a day including movement and exercise. It's a population-average estimate, not a measurement of your actual metabolism, so treat it as a starting point to adjust from based on real results.
